I hope your lung capacity is good because you'll be holding your breath a lot, and sweating through your shirt. I'm not going to lie, there are several moments in this game where you'll leap right out of your chair as buildings crumble around you, the ground cracks open with new fissures and chasms, and bridges collapse as you fire across them. The Motorstormers have taken the city and turned it into a giant, crumbling arena filled with instant, very violent death. Cities are in ruins and the decent citizens have fled, leaving everything behind. Deep online features including intense 12-player online racing, sharing custom car designs with friends. California has been destroyed by The Big One. The loss of a customizable soundtrack is a bit of a bummer though. Motorstorm Apocalypse doesn't rectify this, but the repetitive gameplay is corrected with a new 'story mode' and an overall superior presentation. I've said it before and I'll say it again, online play should not could toward Platinums. So despite playing through the entire game, I only earned 16% of the trophies, which is unfair. I enjoyed the Motorstorm: Pacific Rift but two things stopped it from being a keeper: the repetitive gameplay, and the fact that it had 66 trophies, many of which where based on online play which becomes a wasteland a couple of months after release. ![]()
